Know the Generosity of God…and never thirst! (John 4)

Are You that Person?

I am appalled at the way so many Americans are behaving in this day and age!  And, it’s not just one race – it’s all races!  It makes my heart hurt and I don’t understand what part of the Bible people don’t understand – “Love God and Love One Another!”  To love one another is to care for each other regardless of their skin color, ethnicity, and economic background.  Why does one person think they are somehow better than someone else?  Take note – We will be judged by God one day for the way that we treat each other.

In 2 Samuel 12:1-15, is an excellent example of God’s wrath for those who believe that they are better than others. King David had Uriah, Bathsheba’s husband, killed because David had slept with his wife and she was now pregnant.  David’s power got in the way of making a sound decision of what is right and what is wrong.  He used his power to sleep with another man’s wife. I believe he thought that because he was King, he could treat others any way that he wanted to. God sends Nathan to go and call David out! It’s not pretty. First Nathan tells David a story about a rich man and a poor man and how the rich man takes advantage of the poor man. David says, “The man who has done this deserves to die” (v.6). Then Nathan responds, “You are that man!” (v.7).

Could God be saying to each of us – “You are that person?” You are the one that because you think you are better than others, you have now killed innocent people. You are that person because you think that your skin color holds more clout and therefore, you can treat others any way that you want to…

Choose Love, dear friends! Treat others with respect. Let the past be the past and move forward into a new life!

Let us pray, Gracious God, please help our country! Please send your Spirit into the hearts of those who need to hear your Word. Help each of us to witness to you and be agents of change in this country. This we pray in your name, Amen.
