"Know the Generosity of God…and never thirst" (John 4)
Know the Generosity of God…and never thirst! (John 4)

Body and Soul!

You have heard the saying, “You are what you eat?”  Well, I love to eat.  I don’t eat to live, but live to eat!  In fact, if heaven were tailored made, I want a big table with all kinds of wonderful and delicious things to eat!  For me, it could be a place that I get to go and not have to worry about calories or whether it was healthy!  However, what we eat and how we eat is important. But, have you ever thought about why?

God created you and created you for a reason.  The reason is so that you can carry on the work of the Lord in this world!  So, think about this…if we are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), then we have God’s DNA!  Already from day one of our creation, we are in union with God.  God gave us our bodies to live in while here on earth!  And, just because it may be lawful for us to eat anything that we want, doesn’t mean it is spiritually good for us (1 Corinthians 6:12).  In other words, if our bodies are not healthy, then we cannot do the work of the Lord in which we created to do.

St. Paul puts it this way: “The two shall be one flesh.  But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him” (1 Corinthians 6:16-17).  Therefore, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit! (1 Corinthians 6:19).  How we live our lives and take care of our bodies, truly matter!  It takes intentional effort, discipline, and hard work!

What could you change in your life to honor Christ by making sure that you stay healthy for the sake of doing the Lord’s work?  It’s never too late!  God is not finished with you yet!

Let us pray…Gracious God, eating healthy, exercising, and making sure we stay healthy is difficult.  Help us to remember it is for you and for the sake for the world so that we can proclaim your Good News to all.  In your name we pray, Amen.
