I will speak for myself. I know my human mind has limitations and cannot completely and fully fathom the greatness of God. In all reality, I tend to put God in a box thinking that is what God is capable of doing – and nothing more. It’s because I am human. I have limitations. In my mind and in my heart, I know better. However, I cannot wrap my head around the fact that God is so great that God can do absolutely anything!
In Psalm 86:1-17, King David is lamenting to God about his enemies and asking for protection. Even though David was far beyond perfection, he loves the Lord, spends time with the Lord, and knows the Lord has his back. David says, “I give thanks to you…with my whole heart…show me sign of your favor sot that those who hate me may see it…” (v.12; 17)). In these rough and distressed times, David relies on the Lord for comfort and help.
Sometimes we may feel as though we cannot keep going and don’t know what direction we should turn. Sometimes in places of leadership roles, we feel hated for the decisions that we have made. But, as a Child of God, we can find comfort in God’s help and words. He will never leave us or forsake us. Lean on God’s Greatness. He offers his grace and mercy – something that we cannot even fathom in times of distress.
Let us pray…Gracious God, we come to you in our pain and times of distress. Give all those who are hurting today your power of love, grace, and mercy. Be with those who need you today. In your name we pray, Amen.
