Know the Generosity of God…and never thirst! (John 4)

God’s Mountain

As I think about the world and the mess we are in concerning our values, morals, and the way we treat each other – I can hardly imagine a place where that will no longer be the case.  But, what if there was such a place?  A place on earth where all will come to worship our God.  A place where everyone gets along and treasures our differences – the way we look or think.  What if…there was no violence – only love and caring for one another.  Can you even imagine?

In Micah 4:1-5, the prophet states, “The mountain of the Lord’s house will be the highest of the mountains…Peoples shall stream to it…and he will teach us his ways…”  It goes on to say that this mountain will be a place of security and peace, disputes will be settled, nation will no longer fight against nation…Everyone will live in peace and prosperity, enjoying their own grapevines and fig trees…and all will follow the Lord.  (Micah 4:1-5, The NLT Translation)

While the New Living Translation of this text states that this will happen on earth (v.1), I am not convinced that it will happen here.  However, I am sure, without a doubt, that we can place our hope in a place where God reigns and will teach us the way to live and we will follow His ways.  Our hearts are so hungry for that future.  God has promised us that it will happen.  However, I believe it is up to us to make it possible here on earth.

Let us pray…Gracious God, help us to make this your highest mountain here on earth – the place where all will come to worship you…the place where we find peace and security through our obedience to you.  In your name we pray, Amen.
