Know the Generosity of God…and never thirst! (John 4)

Peace

My favorite CSI television show is CSI Miami. It’s no longer on except for all the repeats. So, I still watch them. Anyway, sometimes I know I have a one-track mind with God always the focus, but was taken aback on one of the episodes. One man had killed another man’s son. The son’s father had a gun ready to kill the man who had killed his son. The CSI team is trying to get the father to put down his gun. And, here is what they said to him, “Give up. You will never see your son again.” All I could think about was how sad to not know the gift that our Lord has given us! Because with Christ there are no “good-byes.” I cannot help to think how different our world would be if all had the trust in the promises of our Lord. – The promise that we will see our loved ones again one day.

In Isaiah 26:1-13, they are victorious people of God, giving thanks and praise for God and all the blessings that have been bestowed upon them. The prophet states, “O Lord, you will ordain peace for us…” This is a peace that passes all of our understanding. This is a peace knowing that those we love who have passed on, are waiting for us on the other side. It is a peace knowing and trusting that we will have a life of eternity. This is a peace that even though life down right stinks sometimes, we can know that God has got us – and we will find rest!

Let us pray…Gracious God, we give you thanks and praise for all you have done for us. But, we could never thank you and praise you enough for giving us the peace that you offer in knowing that you always got us! Help us to remember that even in the most horrific times of our lives, we can know you are there. In your name we pray, Amen.
