Prayer Changes Things!

I have a plaque that says, Prayer Changes Things.” Sometimes it is difficult to know if God is listening to our prayers and we may even feel or wonder if our prayers are answered.  This is one of the biggest reasons I enjoy journaling.  Journaling is something I have been doing for years now.  I cannot tell you how many times I have gone back to read my entries and the prayers I had lifted-up to God, only then to soon realize, see in a new light, and understand how God was and is working in my life. Sometimes the changes in my life were so subtle that if I were not paying attention, I would not realize it.

In Ephesians 3:14-21, Paul is praying for his reader. His prayer is that you – the one reading this right now will have an “ahh-ha” moment where you will somehow grasp, if even in the tiniest way, what Jesus Christ has done for you. He prays, “According to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love” (vv.16-17).  Do you hear this pray?  “As you are being rooted and grounded in love” – something that the Holy Spirit will do JUST for YOU!  PRAYER CHANGES THINGS!

If you have never journaled before, try giving it a shot.  I promise you will see the Lord working in you that you never dreamed possible or even could imagine!

Let us pray…Gracious God, thank you for St. Paul’s prayer for us.  Thank you for reminding us that it is only your Son that can change our hearts, strengthen us for our days ahead, and root us and ground us in your amazing Love for us!  Amen.
