You Can Have it All!

I had someone say to me one time that she didn’t understand how some people had it all – a beautiful home, lots or plenty of money, children who were successful, good health, and a happy marriage. I almost laughed when this person said this, because I don’t believe there is such a person on earth. Yes, we can be happy with the blessings that God has given us – but no one really has it all. It may appear like that on the surface, but I guarantee that if you were to delve into that person’s life, you would find issues that you would be so grateful that were not your problem. In fact, I will promise that. With that being said, we all have days, weeks, and even months when we wonder how we will get to the next day. However, I do believe that there is a way that we can have it all.

In Pennsylvania, there was this little Italian restaurant that we would often go. It was this little hole in the wall, but had been there for years. The food was ‘really’ good and always consistently good. They also delivered, which we also often enjoyed. The owner, now much in his years, was always so happy. He always – always had an amazing smile that was contagious. If one were to ask him why and how could he always be so happy, he would say, “Come talk to me. I will give you my secret.” His secret was Jesus Christ! If he got you one-on-one, he took that opportunity to evangelize for Christ and explain to you that “you too” can be this happy.

In Isaiah 30:19-26, God knows that we will have hard days. The prophet, Isaiah tells us how we get through these hard days, and at the same time, keep that amazing smile on our face! God says, “This is the way; walk in it…On every lofty mountain and every high hill there will be brooks running with water…” (Isaiah 30:21, 25). Don’t’ you see! When we walk with God there are no bad days or hard days. We can have it all because with our Lord, we walk in His ways…not our ways. This changes everything!

Let us pray…Gracious God, help us to ‘walk in your way.’ Show us how that through you and with you, we can have it all. We love you so much. Amen.
